Water softeners and spare parts

Water softeners are the ideal solution to eliminate limestone excess in the water. Double tank or Cabinets, water softeners are an easy to install tool able to protect domestic appliances and pipes from limestone damage.
The choice of which water softener is better for you depends on your daily average water consumption and the water hardness expressed in french degrees.

How to choose the right water softener?

The choice depends on two important factors:

-Hardness of water expressed in french degrees

-Water consumption throughout the day

As soon as you know these values the choice is pretty easy, it comes as the result of a simple calculation taking in consideration the cyclical capacity expressed in mc/°f and the hardness to restrain.

Example:

A 18 liters water softener has a cyclical capacity of 97 mc/°f

Let’s presume we have upstream of the system 35°f of water hardness, and let’s presume that we use about 450 lt/day (3 people 150lt x3) and that we want an average exit hardness to be 10°f. Once we have this data we can proceed with calculations.

97 / (35 – 10) = 97/25 = 3,88 m3 = 3880 litri

This value is the amount of water that a 18 liters water softener is able to erogate between regenerations taking in consideration, upstream hardness (35°f), the hardness we want (10°f), average daily water consumption (450lt) and cyclical capacity  (97mc/°f).

With this value we know to look for a 18 liters water softener with regeneration between every 3,88 m3 (volume regeneration) or every 8 days (3880/450 = 8,60 days).

Chlorine producer

Chlorine producer is a tool able to carry out a sanification of the resins every regeneration. Thanks to a titanium electrode , during the brine aspiration, the chlorine production detects the passage of brine and automatically starts the electrolysis of NaCl for the time set on the regulator trimmer (time for the process). This trimmer is set with a value between 2 and 70 minutes, and every minute corresponds to a liter of resin contained in the water softener. Therefore during the brine aspiration the titanium electrode produces active chlorine, separating Na from Cl, and running through the resins it breaks down bacteria presence.

Once the cycle is terminated the chlorine producer blocks the electrode for 4 hours ignoring the passage of other brine. After those 4 hours the system will be ready to start another sanification cycle.

The legislation says that the chlorine producer should be installed on water softeners for human consumption. That’s the reason every water softener we sell has a built-in chlorine producer.
